Oil Based Creams
SoldeLunaCrafts natural skincare products are made with pure natural oils. The first thought many of us have is that surely applying oils to our face will make the skin even more oily, right? This can be true and false. Some natural oils and butters can make your skin greasier. However, there are a variety of heavy and light oils, according to where they are on the comedogenic* scale. Light oils that are low on the comedogenic scale are great for sensitive skin such as face and skin prone to acne as they are quite dry. Heavy oils are great for the the rest of the body, where the skin is thicker and needs that extra moisturizing power. Unlike water based creams, oil based creams do not need preservatives as they do not contain water and have a deeper nourishing effect on the skin. They have a shelf life of 6-12 months. In scented creams, SoldeLunaCrafts only uses natural fragrances from essential oils.
How to apply your creams
With oil based lotions, the rule of thumb is that a small amount goes a long way! Using an amount no bigger than a pea, rub and warm between hands and then apply to skin in a circular motion. The massage will help the skin absorb the cream better. If you feel you still need more, then apply another small amount and so on. Allow cream to be fully absorbed by skin (approximately 30 mins).
Soaps
To clarify, all soaps contain lye, also referred to sodium hydroxide. The chemical reaction between the lye and the oils creates saponification, with the end process resulting in soap. Without the lye, you would just have oils. The soap is then left to cure for approximately 5 weeks (saponification process), to allow the soap to harden and for the lye to become neutralized.
Commercial vs Handmade Soaps
Commercial soaps tend to have artificial fragrances and colouring and, sadly, harsh chemical agents that can cause skin allergies. Glycerine is usually removed from the soap and resold. Handmade soaps retain their natural glycerine and goodness. SoldeLunaCrafts does not add any artificial colouring or fragrance, hence creating a very natural and wholesome soap that will not harm your skin.
Handmade cold process soap
This soap is made from scratch, from beginning to end. Lye and different types of oils are combined. It takes 5 weeks for the saponification process to be completed. It is the most natural, hypoallergenic and chemical free soap, suitable for all types of skin, including children’s skin. It retains its natural glycerine.
Handcrafted glycerine based soap
This soap has a high amount of glycerine, hence why it is called glycerine soap. It is a good quality soap made from an already made vegetarian soap base and is used for different types of soap crafting.
Looking after your soap
When not in use, make sure the soap is left to dry and not in water.

How to apply:
Use a small amount and rub on lips for 30 seconds. Rinse with water and pat dry. For ultimate results, apply natural organic lip balm to maximize skin healing and moisturizing. Use no more than three times a week (as otherwise you can over exfoliate and cause damage to skin). For best results, please use within 6 months of purchase.
*comedogenic: tends to cause blackheads by blocking the pores of the skin. Non-comedogenic skin care will not provoke skin outbreaks.
